Dream Activity vs. Physical Inactivity
A person reports having a vivid dream about running a marathon. Despite the intense physical activity occurring in the dream, their partner, who was awake, observed that they remained almost completely still in bed, with the exception of some minor twitching and eye movements. Explain the physiological reason for this lack of major physical movement during such an active dream.
