Household Provisioning in the 18th Century: Self-Sufficiency and Local Markets

During the 18th century, households provisioned themselves through a combination of self-production and local commerce. A large portion of essential goods, including food items like crops and meat, as well as clothing and tools, were produced directly by the family for its own consumption. For any remaining needs, goods were purchased from a village market, where they were supplied by producers from within the local community.
