Dual Vulnerability Theory and the Etiology of SAD

Dual Vulnerability theory asserts that Seasonal Affective Disorder is comprised of two major risk dimensions: the seasonality factor and the depressive factor. Individual physiological responses to shifting seasons like changes in diet, physical activity, and amount of daily light exposure combine with psychological predispositions to depressive symptoms like suicidal ideation, rumination, and hopelessness to predict the development of SAD.
