Wage and Employment Effects of Banning Non-Compete Clauses in the WS-PS Model

Within the Wage-Setting/Price-Setting (WS-PS) model, a ban on non-compete clauses is predicted to increase the real wage. This outcome results from upward shifts in both the wage-setting (WS) curve, due to increased worker bargaining power, and the price-setting (PS) curve, due to firms' reduced ability to impose a high markdown on wages.
