Effectiveness of Flocking Method vs. Self-Selection

Research indicates that the flocking method of group formation is more effective at preventing social loafing than allowing students to self-select their groups. A 2018 study by Harding found that groups formed through flocking not only experienced less 'free-riding' but also achieved higher performance on group assignments.
