The existence of graphic visualization alone did not decrease levels of misperception. Similarly, one's involvement in or prior beliefs about the issue presented in a text did not moderate the relationship between the presence of a data visualization and misperception.

Presence/Absence of Graphical Visualizations: Null Results

Participants with low and medium-to-low prior knowledge showed lower misperception scores when a data visualization was present with the information as compared to when it was not. Therefore, prior knowledge had a moderating effect on the relationship between the presence of a data visualization and misperception.
