Ethereum Block Time
Ethereum divides time into 12-second intervals called slots. A validator is selected in each slot to propose a block. If the selected validator successfully proposes one, the next block can appear after 12 seconds; if a slot is empty, the interval between consecutive blocks is longer than one slot.
