Etiology of Hookworm
Hookworm infection is caused by the nematode parasites Necator americanus and organisms within the genus Ancylostoma. Soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) include:
- N. americanus (primary organism that causes hookworm infection)
- A. duodenale
- Roundworm
- Ascaris lumbricoides
- Trichuris trichiura
