The Sterilization Act was enacted in 1924. Many children and adults born with disabilities (blindness or epilepsy) were forcibly sterilized. From 1939 onwards, ‘children’s departments’ were set up in hospitals, in which children with disabilities were murdered. That same year, Hitler authorized ‘euthanasia’, meaning the program to systematically kill all individuals with disabilities
