Evaluating a Core Assumption in Vehicle Choice Models

A common economic model for vehicle adoption assumes that the total cost of owning and operating a gasoline-powered car (including purchase, fuel, and maintenance) remains constant, no matter how many people drive them. Critically evaluate this assumption. Discuss one reason why this might be a reasonable simplification for the model and one reason why it might be a significant flaw, especially over a long-term forecast. Justify your reasoning for both points.
