Evaluating a Negotiation Strategy

Two parties are in a negotiation. They have identified two possible agreements, Agreement A and Agreement B. Both agreements are better for both parties than failing to reach any agreement. However, Party 1 strongly prefers Agreement A, while Party 2 strongly prefers Agreement B. A mediator proposes a solution: 'Flip a coin. If it's heads, you both commit to Agreement A. If it's tails, you both commit to Agreement B.' Evaluate the effectiveness of this proposed solution for resolving the conflict of interest inherent in this type of strategic situation. Justify your reasoning.
