Evaluating a Production Technology Decision

A textile factory aims to produce 1,000 meters of fabric per day. The factory manager must choose one of three available production methods. The manager chose Method X, stating, 'Our goal is to keep our capital spending down, and Method X uses the fewest expensive looms.'

Evaluate the manager's decision based on the firm's primary goal of producing its output at the lowest possible cost. Was the correct method chosen? Justify your answer with calculations and explain the principle the manager should have applied.
