Evaluating a Work-Leisure Decision After a Windfall

An individual earns an hourly wage and has chosen their preferred daily balance of work and free time. They then receive a large, one-time, non-labor cash payment. A friend advises them, "With this new wealth, you should stop working completely to maximize your free time." Critically evaluate this advice. Is it guaranteed that the individual's new optimal choice will be to have 24 hours of free time? Explain your reasoning by considering the relationship between the individual's personal valuation of an hour of free time and the wage they would earn from working that hour.
