Evaluating Contractual Arrangements in Agriculture

Imagine a landowner and a farmer who can agree to one of two arrangements: (1) an employment contract where the farmer is paid a fixed wage for a set number of hours, with the landowner keeping all the produce, or (2) a tenancy contract where the farmer pays a fixed rent for the land and keeps all the produce they grow. Evaluate these two arrangements from the perspectives of both the landowner and the farmer. In your evaluation, consider factors such as income security, incentive to work hard, and who bears the risk of a poor harvest.
