Short Answer

Evaluating Production Efficiency

An individual can allocate their 24-hour day between work (producing a good) and free time. Consider two possible daily outcomes:

  • Outcome A: 13.5 hours of free time and 24 units of the good.
  • Outcome B: 13.5 hours of free time and 20 units of the good.

Assuming both outcomes are possible to achieve, critique Outcome B in comparison to Outcome A. From an economic perspective, explain why a rational individual would prefer one outcome over the other.
