Evaluating Proposer Strategies in a Bargaining Game

Imagine two players are participating in a one-time, anonymous bargaining game. Player A (the Proposer) is given $100 and must offer a portion to Player B (the Responder). If Player B accepts, the money is split as proposed. If Player B rejects, both players get nothing.

Player A is considering two strategies:

  1. Offer $1 to Player B, keeping $99 for themselves.
  2. Offer $50 to Player B, keeping $50 for themselves.

Evaluate these two strategies from Player A's perspective. Argue which strategy is superior for Player A and justify your reasoning by considering both the potential monetary payoff and the likely reaction of Player B.
