Evaluating Research Critically

To navigate the vast amount of available information, it is essential to adopt a stance of healthy skepticism and think critically. When encountering a claim, one should evaluate it from multiple perspectives by asking key questions: What is the expertise of the person making the claim? What might they gain if the claim is valid? Is the claim justified by the available evidence? And what do other researchers think of the claim?
