Evaluating the Case for Economic Intervention

A large technology company plans to build a new headquarters in a small town. This project is expected to create jobs and boost local businesses, but will also lead to significant traffic congestion and higher housing costs for existing residents. Based on the economic principle that intervention may be warranted when there is a significant divergence between private and societal interests, evaluate the arguments for and against government intervention in this case.
