Evaluating the Viability of the Worker Cooperative Model

A common argument is that the structure of a firm owned and operated by its employees, while promoting equity, inherently contains economic disadvantages that prevent it from becoming a dominant business model. Critically evaluate this argument. In your response, identify at least two major economic challenges faced by these firms and assess whether these challenges are significant enough to outweigh potential benefits (such as increased worker productivity and motivation) and thus limit their widespread adoption.
