Example of Factor Analysis: Types of Intelligence
Factor analysis is frequently used to structure individuals' performance across a broad spectrum of mental tasks into distinct intelligence factors. For instance, when individuals engage in various cognitive assessments, the statistical technique typically groups tasks like arithmetic, spatial reasoning, and quantitative estimation into one cluster, which researchers interpret as mathematical intelligence. Conversely, tasks involving vocabulary, reading comprehension, and grammar form a separate cluster, which is labeled as verbal intelligence.
