Exclusionary Practices in Early Psychology

In its formative years, psychology presented significant barriers to entry for many groups. Women, ethnic minorities, and individuals with non-heterosexual orientations found it difficult to become psychologists and influence the field's direction. They were also negatively affected by the prevailing nonscientific societal attitudes held by the dominant group of White male psychologists.
