Exercise and Prevention of Telomere Shortening Under Stress

For individuals under high stress, regular exercise has been shown to help prevent the shortening of telomeres, which are protective caps on the ends of chromosomes. This effect on a cellular level may be one reason why those who exercise regularly often maintain a more youthful appearance, as telomere length is linked to the aging process.
