Expert Witness Role of Forensic Psychologists

A key function for forensic psychologists is to serve as expert witnesses in court. In this capacity, they are called upon by either the prosecution or defense to offer opinions based on their specialized research or clinical experience. To be effective, an expert witness must possess a solid understanding of the law and be able to present psychological information in a way that is relevant and comprehensible within the legal framework, rather than purely in psychological terms.
