Explaining Production Gains from Specialization

Consider an economic scenario with two producers. Under a self-sufficient production plan, their combined output is 40 tons of wheat and 1,000 apples. When they shift to a strategy of complete specialization, where each producer focuses only on the good they can produce most efficiently relative to the other, their new combined output is 50 tons of wheat and 1,000 apples. Explain the economic principle that allows for this increase in the total production of wheat without any decrease in the production of apples.
