Familial Recurrence Rate of Borderline Personality Disorder

The rate of borderline personality disorder among relatives of people who have the disorder has been found to be as high as 24.9%, providing further evidence that genetic factors are important in the development of the disorder (White, Gunderson, Zanarani, & Hudson, 2003).
