Fear of Abandonment in BPD

A central feature of Borderline Personality Disorder is a profound intolerance for being alone. This leads to desperate efforts to prevent separation or abandonment, whether it is real or merely perceived. These efforts can include extreme actions such as suicidal gestures or self-mutilation.
