Fear of Cancer Recurrence Therapy (FORT)
FORT is a cognitive-existential group therapy that combines elements of modern existential therapy and contemporary cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). It aims to provide participants with strategies to cope with the fear of cancer recurrence by targeting specific factors contributing to this fear, such as triggers, uncertainty in illness, perceived risk of recurrence, cognitive avoidance, and the need for reassurance. The therapy involves group sessions where participants learn to manage their fears, challenge negative thought patterns, and develop skills to improve their quality of life and well-being.
