SARS-CoV-2 was viable in aerosols throughout the 3-hour study (titer went from $10^{3.5}$ to $10^{2.7}$ $TCID_{50}$ per liter of air), as was SARS-CoV-1 (titer went from $10^{4.3}$ to $10^{3.5}$ $TCID_{50}$ per milliliter). The half-life of SARS-CoV-2 was 1.1-1.2 hours (95% credible intervals 0.64, 2.64).

Aerosol and Surface Stability of SARS-CoV-2 as Compared with SARS-CoV-1: Aerosol Results

SARS-CoV-2 was most stable on plastic and stainless steel, with a viable virus detected up to 72 hours after applications, although the titers greatly reduced over time to $10^{0.6}$ $TCID_{50}$ per milliliter on plastic after 72 hours and $10^{0.6}$ $TCID_{50}$ per milliliter on stainless steel after 48 hours. No viable SARS-CoV-2 was found after 4 hours on copper or after 24 hours on cardboard. SARS-CoV-1 was detected on plastic after 72 hours ($10^{0.7}$ $TCID_{50}$ per milliliter) and 48 hours on stainless steel ($10^{0.6}$ $TCID_{50}$ per milliliter). No viable SARS-CoV-1 was detected on copper or cardboard after 8 hours.
