After July 11, 2014, those trading bitcoins on a regular basis were subject to tax on commercial and industrial profits. Occasional trading was still subject to income tax, meaning that some individuals had to pay more than 60% tax on their transactions.

Taxes on transactions in bitcoins

On April 6, 2018, the State Council ruled that the taxpayer only had to pay a flat rate
of 36.2% on occasional operations in bitcoin. In addition, the law provided for a total tax exemption if the resale value did not exceed 5,000 euros.
