Fixation in Psychosexual Development

In Freudian theory, fixation refers to the condition of being 'stuck' in a particular stage of psychosexual development. Freud proposed that this occurs when an individual does not receive appropriate nurturance and parenting during a stage, causing aspects of that stage's focus to persist into adulthood and influence personality and behavior.
