Forensic Rehabilitation Counseling Practices Definition of Terms

For the purposes of this study recidivism is defined as, “measured by criminal acts that resulted in rearrest, reconviction or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a three-year period following the person's release” (N.I.J., 2019). Client, patient, participant, subject, offender(s) are all terms which apply to a person whose criminal acts resulting in recidivism are measured. Counselor, forensic counselor, rehabilitation counselor are all terms which are used interchangeably in this context.
