Formula for Participation Rate

The participation rate is calculated by dividing the total labour force by the total population of working age. As the labour force comprises both employed and unemployed individuals, the formula can be expressed in two ways:

Participation Rate=Labour ForcePopulation of Working Age\text{Participation Rate} = \frac{\text{Labour Force}}{\text{Population of Working Age}}

Participation Rate=Employed+UnemployedPopulation of Working Age\text{Participation Rate} = \frac{\text{Employed} + \text{Unemployed}}{\text{Population of Working Age}}
