Gender differences in stress and motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic

On average, women said that they experienced lower levels of motivation during online learning in the pandemic compared to men. Home (1998, as cited by Goksu et al. 2021) speculated that women experienced higher levels of stress when distanced due to gender roles and familial problems. During times of contagious disease, women tend to show higher levels of anxiety, stress, depression and intolerence of uncertainty (Wang et al., 2020 as cited by Goksu et al., 2021). This has been related to decreased levels of learning motivation.
