Concept
Generalization of GRE General Test Validity Across Departments
Researchers examined the validity of GRE tests for students in different graduate school disciplines by dividing test takers into 3 categories – everyone who took the test (population), those who applied for grad school (applicant pool), and those who were accepted into grad school. They could not find differences due to discipline and concluded that the GRE is very specific and highly susceptible to sampling variation.
