The history form included two passages on US immigration that were 1,094 and 358 words in length. It had 31 comprehensive questions, and measured  students ability to support historical statements with primary source literature and their ability to apply the knowledge they learned to simulated situations.

GISA assessments were used to assess reading comprehension in specific subject areas. The assessments were web delivered and discipline specific and had a duration of 45-60 minutes. They were designed to simulate a scenario where the participant worked with a peer to prepare for a test. The tasks included writing, paraphrasing, inferencing, and  identifing  key information.

GISA Assessment History Form

The science form included five passages on ecology and invasive species that had a total of 1,444 words. It had 33 questions, and asked participants to describe ecosystems using technical definitions form the provided reading, apply activities and policies described in the reading, and identify activities and policies described in the reading material. 

GISA Assessment Science Form

The literature form included a short story and an essay about the history of the story and author that were 390 and 1326 words in length. It had 38 questions. Participants were asked to identify evidence in the essay that supported interpretations of the short story and to create a rubric to score simulated peer responses to similar questions.
