Glutamatergic Hallucinogens

Another class of hallucinogens, which includes PCP (angel dust) and the animal anesthetic ketamine, operates by antagonizing the NMDA glutamate receptor. This action blocks the normal functioning of the neurotransmitter glutamate at these specific receptor sites.
