Glycosaminoglycans
Glycosaminoglycans are negatively charged polysaccharides that are composed of a repeating disaccharides subunit. They are involved in cell hydration, structure, and cell signaling. Glycosaminoglycans can be categorized by their repeating subunit:
- heparin/heparan sulfate
- chondroitin sulfate/dermatan sulfate
- keratan sulfate
- hyaluronic acid
