Guido van Rossum and the Creation of Python

Guido van Rossum began working on what became the Python language in December 1989. Python came about from the ABC Programming language that van Rossum originally helped create, but was much improved. Python was released in 1991 and was named after the TV Show "Monty Python". Van Rossum stepped down as the leader of Python in July 2018, but the language is still being updated today and is growing in popularity.
