Price notes that because of the small number of openly disabled academics, information that may not normally be considered identifying was treated with increased care, and when information was thought to be identifying, it was removed from the participant descriptions.

Identifying Information for Disabled Academics

Price decided in Crip Spacetime to use pseudonyms to refer to participants while also including an appendix that offered descriptions of each participant, which the participants were able to revise, that contextualize the participant's social location while omitting identifying information.

In the case of DAS of the 38 people interviewed 12 were people of color, 4 were trans or non-binary, 28 were women, 9 were on visas, were immigrants or worked outside the US, 3 were classified as non-teaching staff, and 6 of the participants left academia after their interviews with DAS.

Price notes that even when using diversity sampling limitations can persist, for instance in the DS sample over 80% of the individuals who responded to the call for participants were women and the interviewee list reflects this over-sampling of women.
