As the amount of matter changes, the property of matter also changes. When referring to heat capacity, it takes more energy to increase the temperature of a larger amount of substance.

Extensive Property

Amount of energy it takes to completely melt or freeze a certain amount of a  substance. 

Heat of Melting

Amount of energy it takes to completely vaporize or condense a certain amount of substance.

Heat of Vaporization

A quantity that shows how much energy is transferred to a system to accomplish a given temperature change. This measure IS dependent on the amount of substance.

Indicated by a phase change of the substance when energy is added or removed. The equation for bond energy is ΔEbond = ΔmΔH (Where Δm = the change in mass, and ΔH is the heat capacity).
