History of DID

Dissociative Identity Disorder is a highly stigmatized disorder and questioned about the "realness" of the disorder. DID was commonly referred to as multiple personality disorder because the focus on the individual feeling as if they were another person. The shift in the understanding of the disorder being a rift in consciousness instead of differing in "personality".
