Homeostatic Mechanism

The process of maintaining homeostasis operates through a control system within the body. Receptors, often composed of neurons, detect imbalances and send signals to a control center, which is frequently part of the brain. In response, the control center directs effectors, such as other neurons, to take corrective action and restore the system's optimal balance.
