Hover states are signified by an overlay and can be supported by elevation. New functionality can be displayed during a hover.

• Text Fields
• Icons

The following elements cannot utilize (or inherit) a hover state:

• App Bars
• Tabs
• Bottom Navigation
• Sheets
• Dialogs
• Alerts
• Menus
• Steppers
