The 2009 Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act brought almost $30 billion in funds to incentivize the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The resulting shift towards patient-centered interoperability has the potential to lay new groundwork for healthcare data sharing, with blockchain emerging as a technology that could significantly improve this interoperability.
