The first tactic was borne out when Blake's attorney, Ben Crump stated in a news conference that Blake's sons are going to have psychological problems for the rest of their lives and that Blake's father described Blake's sons as being stuck in the moment of the shooting. This harm was also attended to by Rhea Boyd who detailed in a piece the harms to children's mental and physical health when they witness or experience violence and how the exposure of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous children to police violence is a public health issue. Boyd also discusses how due to policing policies disability can both be the impetus for police violence and the result of police violence so we should focus on the violence that causes the harm.
