Hydrophobic Interactions in Protein Tertiary Structure

In protein tertiary structure, hydrophobic interactions occur when hydrophobic amino acids, which contain only carbon and hydrogen atoms, cluster together. This clustering helps hold loops of the polypeptide backbone in place.
