“I Won the Election!”: An Empirical Analysis of Soft Moderation Interventions on Twitter Analysis of RQ1 - warnings labels and users

  • 13 kinds of warning labels, some last less than a week while others are relevant even months after
  • Of the 168,126 users, only 853 (0.5%) users’ tweets have warning labels and they hence shared tweets with warning labels
  • Republicans shared the majority of tweets with warning labels and Democrats interacted more with quoted tweets
  • Out of the 20 top Twitter users, 6 were suspended due to their continuous sharing of tweets labeled with warnings, indicating that in the presence of soft moderation, continuation of misinformation dissemination and spread can lead to hard moderation
