Identity Assumption (Troiden)

In Richard Troiden's model of sexual identity development, identity assumption is the stage where individuals begin to incorporate homosexuality into their self-concepts. During this stage, their homosexual identity is tolerated more than it is embraced. For men, this stage typically begins in their early 20s, whereas for women, it tends to occur slightly later.
