Impact of a Legal Framework on Economic Interactions

Consider an economic interaction between a landowner and a landless farmer. A formal legal system is introduced that performs three distinct functions: (1) it protects the farmer from being forced to work, (2) it secures the landowner's property rights, and (3) it enforces any voluntary contracts made between them. Analyze how each of these three functions individually contributes to changing the balance of power and the potential economic outcomes for both the farmer and the landowner.
