Importance of Group Settings for Trauma Survivors

Many survivors are traumatized not only by the initial traumatic experiences but also by isolation due to shame and guilt, and denial from others regarding the initial traumatic event. Being able to connect with others who have comparable experiences allows survivors to step out of isolation toward a sense of community, through talking about their own experiences of survival and hearing similar experiences shared by others.
